Description:
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a Mineral Processing Plant is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, repair, and maintenance of all mechanical systems and equipment within the plant. This includes crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps, compressors, screens, and other equipment critical to mineral processing operations. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, preventive maintenance practices, troubleshooting, and the ability to manage and lead maintenance teams.Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of all mechanical equipment.Schedule routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance tasks for equipment such as crushers, mills, pumps, and conveyors.Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and operational standards.Troubleshooting and Fault Diagnosis:Diagnose mechanical failures, analyze equipment performance, and identify root causes of mechanical breakdowns.Perform corrective actions to restore equipment to optimal performance, reducing downtime and improving reliability.Equipment Reliability & Performance:Monitor and assess the performance of mechanical systems and equipment.Recommend and implement improvements or upgrades to enhance efficiency and extend the lifespan of machinery.Use diagnostic tools and techniques to monitor vibration, alignment, temperature, pressure, and other factors affecting mechanical systems.Team Management & Supervision:Lead a team of maintenance technicians and contractors, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality maintenance work.Supervise daily maintenance activities, ensuring they are completed on time and to standard.Ensure proper use of safety procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to company policies.Maintenance Documentation & Reporting:Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including equipment repairs, inspections, parts usage, and maintenance schedules.Generate and submit reports on equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance costs to senior managementReview and update maintenance logs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality control processes.Spare Parts & Inventory Management:Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure that critical parts are available for repairs and maintenance.Coordinate with suppliers for procurement of parts, tools, and equipment.Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.Participate in safety meetings, audits, and risk assessments.Promote a culture of safety and ensure all team members follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
